ABOUT
Acoustic Architecture is the flagship research initiative of Aspekt, exploring how sound, space, objects, ritual and memory can be composed into physical experience.
It begins with high-fidelity listening environments, but extends beyond the conventional boundaries of audio, interiors and system design.
The research asks what changes when a room is treated not as a container for sound, but as an instrument; when listening becomes a spatial ritual and when furniture, architecture, technology and music are understood as one emotional field.
The first public fragments were shared during the High End Show in Vienna in June 2026. Twenty hand-folded and wax-sealed Founding Document kits brought together project texts, a research fragment and the track list from Listening Session 000. Rather than promotional material, each kit was conceived as an artifact from the beginning of a larger body of work.
The archive continues to grow through listening sessions, room studies, essays, interviews, artist collaborations, acoustic objects, printed matter and records of shared experience.
Acoustic Architecture designs the conditions for listening, reconnecting attention, emotion, memory and presence through intentional space.
Listening Sessions
Acoustic Architecture takes physical form through intimate listening sessions designed to give sound the time, space and attention it deserves.
Each session centers on an artist, recording, label, movement, system or sonic idea that we believe deserves to be heard with intention. The goal is not simply to play music, but to create the conditions for the work to be fully realized: physically, emotionally, spatially and culturally.
Rather than treating sound as background, the sessions invite people to stay with it. To hear what is inside the work. To understand why it matters. To sense the decisions, histories, technologies, rituals and environments that shaped it.
Some sessions may trace the hidden architectures behind electronic music, jazz, dub, ambient, classical or even club culture. Others may move outside genre entirely. The focus is not on categorizing sound, but on understanding how it carries memory, place, emotion and collective experience.
Each gathering becomes part of a larger discussion of what was played, how the room responded and what forms of listening became possible.
Acoustic Architecture is a space for artists to be heard beyond the speed of consumption. A space for listeners to encounter work more deeply. A space where sound is not simply presented, but inhabited.

The Berlin Reference System
System Design
The Berlin reference system has evolved through years of listening, collecting, testing and refinement.
Built around full-range planar loudspeakers, analog playback, tube circuitry and high-current amplification. it functions as both a musical instrument and a working research tool for investigating the spatial, emotional and technical dimensions of listening.
JOURNAL
The Acoustic Architecture journal is the published research of the initiative.
It brings together essays, interviews, field notes, references and speculative inquiries that expand the cultural and theoretical context surrounding the physical work.
Where listening sessions create direct experience, the journal creates context—building an evolving body of thought around sound as a material of culture and a medium of design.

Collaborate
Acoustic Architecture is open to collaboration with artists, musicians, audio brands, architects, institutions, collectors, venues and researchers interested in developing new forms of listening culture.
Collaborations may take the form of listening environments, spatial studies, artist programs, objects, publications, recordings or temporary and permanent activations.
