Audio System Design
A private listening room and music environment in Berlin designed around the idea that sound, furniture, equipment, and atmosphere should operate as one continuous spatial system.
The project transforms a domestic room into an intimate high-fidelity listening space for focused music sessions, DJ use, and small cultural gatherings. Rather than treating audio equipment as objects placed inside a room, the design integrates the sound system, sideboard, acoustic strategy, cable management, lighting, and spatial layout into a single architectural composition.
At the center of the room is a custom designed full-width sideboard that functions as furniture, technical infrastructure, storage, and visual anchor. The system is designed to support both everyday listening and more intentional sessions, with careful attention given to speaker placement, low-frequency behavior, analog/digital source integration, acoustic treatment, and the physical rituals around listening.
The result is a room that feels less like a conventional hi-fi setup and more like a private sound salon: precise, warm, functional, and quietly immersive.
Aspekt developed the overall spatial, acoustic, and system concept for the room, including:
Listening room strategy and spatial layout
Speaker placement and system integration
Custom sideboard concept, design and functional planning
DJ, turntable, streamer, and digital source integration
Acoustic treatment strategy, including curtain system, reflection control, and low-frequency planning
Equipment positioning, cable-routing logic, and technical infrastructure
Visual direction for the room’s atmosphere, materiality, and user experience
Ongoing refinement through listening tests and real-world use
The project sits between interior architecture, acoustic design, industrial design, and cultural strategy, creating a room not only for sound reproduction, but for the act of listening itself.
