PROCESS: The chair was developed through a process of translating softness into structure: beginning with the simple act of a rolled mat or cushion, the design explored how that familiar cylindrical form could become an integrated headrest and visual anchor for the piece. From there, the frame was refined as a dark, sculpted wooden architecture with tapered legs and a continuous reclining profile that gives the chair both lightness and stability. The seat and back evolved as a suspended surface rather than a heavy upholstered volume, allowing the material wrapping to express comfort, tension, and craft at the same time. Material studies focused on the contrast between rich, dark timber, soft woven textiles, and aged leather, creating a balance between warmth, restraint, and tactile luxury. Throughout the process, joinery, ergonomics, and proportion were developed together so the final chair feels less like an assembled object and more like a single calm gesture—somewhere between furniture, ritual, and rest.
